here’s what i’m covering in today’s letter in case you’re short on time :)

- a bunchhh of a++++ intentional (but not at all fussy) client meal inspo to get your creative juices flowing
- how to use the power of plating w care to override the tendency to overeat
- the most perfect slam dunk everyday salmon recipe, the jammy eggs that elevate truly everything & a dip that takes every protein to the next level

mindset reset: plating with main character energy

in my private practice, my clients tend to do really well. but the clients who have the most success year after year after freaking year tend to do one thing in common:

plate like they would for their biggest crush.

it’s giving main character energy. to be real though - i’m not talking about fussyness in the kitchen or making things with a million steps or ingredients (because nobody i know has the time for that), but truly putting food on a plate with intention.

i see hundreds of clients’ meals every week, and some are admittedly downright art, but what excites me most is when i can tell there was care involved. when they plate food nicely for themselves the same way they would for their partner or friend or their kids or a guest of any kind. we tend to go all out for our people, but then do a little over the sink nosh for ourselves, and i loveeee when you just know someone took a couple extra minutes to make it nice for truly just themselves.

here’s the thing, it’s not like i don’t ever do a little over the sink nosh (i certainly do), but i will say that as a longgg time practitioner, the care you put into sitting down with a plated meal or snack (no matter how small!!) goes a long way. not only because it feels better, but in my experience people tend to do much better with portion control because they can visually clock what they’re having and form little meal memories. i dove very deep into this concept in my first book and the cliffsnotes are:

  • the more tuned in we are to what we’re eating while we eating, the less likely we are to overeat and the more satisfied we are by our meals and snacks

  • adopting this type of truly intentional eating ritual boosts the extended release kind of dopamine that helps us get truly excited about taking good care and makes us more likely to keep it going day after day!

  • the less we overeat, the more we trust ourselves around food and feel safe and relaxed

  • the safer we feel, the more regulated we are to go about our day…and honestly, what’s hotter than that?

you told me you loveee client inspo and i heard you loud and clear, so here are a bunch of truly expert examples of a++++ client meals and snacks, plated with intention to get your inspiration flowingggg:
