EVEN BETTER WITH: Kerrilynn Pamer
founder of cap beauty and curator of really nice wellness things on creating a skincare routine, home, and daily habits with intention, longevity and ease
today’s guest is kerrilynn pamer who i’ve known and admired for a long time. we met back when i lived in new york a lifetime ago and she was opening up cap beauty’s west village flagship which was truly a love letter to taking really good care. she’s always had a knack for curating the nicest wellness stuff and today she shares:
- the two non-negotiables she incorporates into her daily routine even when life feels challenging and full
- the ways her skincare and bodycare philosophy has changed over the years (and the products she’s turning to on repeat!)
- the insanely gorg meals she makes and the ingredient that she’s been adding to literally everything
- why she treats her home like her best friend, and how that has helped her create a space she feels super good in
How would you describe what you do?
I always stumble a little with this question, because I find it hard to encapsulate what I do. But in regards to my resume, I am the CEO and founder of CAP Beauty. In regards to my day to day life, I am a wife, cook, animal lover, passionate learner and someone whose life purpose is to appreciate and create beauty.
What part of your daily routine feels non-negotiable, even when life gets full?
I have recommitted myself to my transcendental meditation practice, and although twenty minutes two times a day often feels like too much time to spend in silence, I am consistently in awe of the results. These past few months have been some of the most challenging of my life, and I am walking through them more resourced than I thought possible, all of which I attribute to this simple, yet easy to abandon, practice.
I also have been moving for at least thirty minutes a day and that feels like another gift. Nothing major, just a commitment to movement.
For so long I worked off of the idea of rituals supporting me, but I now see they were just more to-do’s dressed up as good for me when in reality they were causing me more stress. With age though, I’m realizing that the less I do, the better I am. Now I commit to one practice a month and do that. It’s manageable for me, and allows for way less opportunities to criticize and beat myself up for not doing something that is supposed to make me feel better. This approach makes a lot more sense to me. So for now, my two routines are meditation and movement. Next month I’m adding reading. One month at a time.
How has your personal skincare and bodycare philosophy evolved over the years? What’s resonating most deeply with you right now—either in terms of ingredients, practices, or mindset?
