hii! i’m excited to share the first EVEN BETTER WITH, a column where i’ll be bringing on people i really admire to ask the questions i am genuinely dying to hear them answer. one of the most special parts about being a registered dietitian in private practice is collaborating with others who are absolute wizards at providing additional tools for nervous system regulation, getting to know oneself, movement, spirituality, relationships, and more. in addition to the tools i share from my private practice and life, i want to give you tools from people who have influenced me and who i have a feeling will resonate for you too :)

our first guest is miss kyle miller! i’ve been manifesting one of her yoga retreats for forever, which i’m convinced would heal parts of me i don’t even know need healing. in the meantime, today she shares:

- her go-to’s for nervous system regulation
- the LA facialist that leaves her glowwwwing
- the salad dressing she’s got on repeat
- yoga and pilates teachers in LA she loves to take class with
- a KMY playlist (we looove)
- her top book recs

Kyle!! How would you describe what you do?

I'm a yoga teacher! I’m a teacher trainer and a retreat leader and I am really loving and leaning into being a mentor. Supporting newer teachers is becoming more and more important to me.

Nervous system regulation is a big part of my nutrition practice. I’ve heard you say “you can’t meditate in a house on fire” which I loooved. Can you explain this a bit?

This is a classic spiritual teaching. It essentially means if your basic needs + sense of safety aren't taken care of, it's difficult to have a spiritual practice. I love this because it’s so practical and it reminds me that getting your shit together is a part of the whole thing. There’s no separating spirituality from how we live our daily lives.

What are your most nutritive practices or rituals to support nervous system regulation when you’re feeling scattered or depleted?
